At Opal, we believe light holds the power to transform how we live, work, and connect. Light is not just illumination — it is energy, rhythm, and connection.
Through light, we cultivate health, create balance, and foster connection. These three pillars shape everything we do.

Fascinated by flight, Florian always saw flying as freedom and lightness. During the COVID-19 lockdowns, he discovered how deeply light shapes our well-being. Inspired by artists like Olafur Eliasson, he realized that with the right light, we shine. OPAL was born to bring back lightness, balance, and possibility.

My work has always revolved around one question: how can design make life better? During my studies, I discovered that light can do much more than illuminate a space. It can calm the mind, spark creativity, and help us reconnect with ourselves. That realization grew into a passion. Over the years I’ve seen how light influences us on every level. The environments we live and work in shape how we feel, perform and connect with others.

Since I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by flight. I admired birds, planes, and rockets -> anything that could rise above the ground. Flying felt like freedom, lightness, and perspective. Maybe because in contrast, life sometimes felt heavy. I noticed it during holidays too: the stress of packing, border control, early mornings… all that pressure. But the moment the plane takes off, when you finally let go of the ground, there’s a shift. You feel light again. Flying became my metaphor for living with ease: you cannot take off unless you let go.
